This weekend I'm heading to ConNooga! With the recent end of Chattacon (RIP), ConNooga is now one of the longer running local cons here in Chattanooga, TN. Some of the friends I met at Chattacon are even coming to ConNooga this year. It will be great to introduce them to a different kind of con in Chattanooga.
Last year the ConNooga Deep Thought track made its glorious return (I forgot to do a ConNooga post last year, but here's the 2024 post). This year I'm once again participating in some Deep Thought (I mean, how embarrassing would it be for a philosophy professor and fan of Douglas Adams to not participate in Deep Thought?).
I'll be around the con all weekend engaging in all sorts of nerdy shenanigans, but here's a list of the Deep Thought panels I will definitely be part of. All Deep Thought panels will be in Room 21 at the Chattanooga Convention Center (but the party may not stay there). Maybe I'll see you there!
- Meet & Greet: Deep Thinkers of Con Nooga – Literary Minds, Cosmic Questions (Friday at noon)
- Utopia vs. Dystopia – Dreaming the Future or Warning the Present? (Friday at 3pm)
- Showdown: Dragon Royale – Who Reigns Supreme? (Friday 8-10pm; I will be defending Smaug!)
- Hugo Highlights – Celebrating the Best in Speculative Fiction (Saturday 11am; I will be discussing my experience voting for the Hugo awards)
- I HATE ROMANTASY - When the Magic… Leaves you Dry and Droopy (Sat. 4pm: Note: I do not actually hate romantasy!)
- The Philosopher’s Party – Virtual Ale & Infinite Questions (Sat. 8pm - ?; Note: this may start in Room 21, but a Philosophers' Party can't be contained by space and time or convention centers... and there may even be non-virtual ale somewhere and somewhen)
- Join the Evil Empire; Why Do Some Fans Seem to Love Fascists in Fiction? (Sunday 11am)
- Panel Discussion: Next Year’s Gay Dinosaur Erotica Panel? – Planning Panels with the Truly Committed (Sun. 12pm; will there be gay dinosaur erotica? Be there to find out!)
